2001 Inductees

 

Michael Michie

Double distinguished pistol and rifle. State Marksmanship coordinator of Virginia (VA). As the SMC, Major Michie was responsible for conducting the 4 state matches per year safely and effectively, and did so without incident. Responsible for SPC Gentry and SSG Fultz winning the Winston P. Wilson sniper match, the Army Reserve Component Sniper Match, and the All-Army sniper match in 1992. Top Honor Graduate in Master Marksman Course and Small Arms Instructor/Range Operations Course, 1997 (only Guardsman every to be both). Developed international battle-focused combat courses of fire from conventional, precision courses. Virginia won MAC II reg. Pistol team, 2001 and MAC III reg. Pistol team 2001. He won US Army Distinguished Rifleman Badge in 1993, one of 6 VA NG personnel to earn the badge. Won the US Army Distinguished Pistol Badge in 1992, one of 8 VA NG personnel to earn the badge and one of 2 VA NG personnel to have ever won both. Chief’s 50 shooter in 1991, one of 4 VA NG personnel to earn the badge. All-Army Novice Pistol Champion 1988, second place Pistol at Wilson Matches in 1999. Earned Queen’s (England) 100 Designation in 1999. Won the Practical Pistol Individual Aggregate Championship at the Canadian Forces Skill-at-Arms Competition in 2001. Won both pistol championships and overall aggregate in the same competition in 1998. Machine Gun Match Champion during the Australian Army Skill-At-Arms Matches in 1993. Won International AFSAM Pistol Matches in 1999. Set three national and three international records.



Donald Williams

Donald Williams: NRA & Oregon small bore rifle record holder. NRA Senior record holder. Fifteen year member of Oregon National Guard Marksmanship Training Unit, donating many hours to working with the youth in 4-H and as Instructor at 1983 Junior Olympic Shooting Program. Sponsored an NRA Class C Shooting Coach Certification School. Nine year Director of Oregon Junior Olympic Camp. Coach: NRA National Camp-1988; Achievement Camp-OTC-1987; Camp Perry-Junior Team; National Coaches Workshop-OTC. Participated in the Gun Safety Display at Oregon State Fair for several years. A member of the All-Guard Shooting Team, which won many awards. Set Oregon State Rifle record in 1977; in 1970 was a member of a four-man team that set a National small bore rifle record. In 1971 this four-man team again set a National small bore rifle record; he also set an individual National small-bore rifle record.



Homer Pearson

Forty years National Level competition experience. Forty years military experience. Commander of the U. S. National Guard Marksmanship Unit from 1977 thru 1980. Earned Distinguished Rifleman Badge in 1963. Earned Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge in 1961. Four times U. S. International Team Manager. Held five National Open or Reserve Rifle Records 1967-1971. Lifetime Master Classification in six different NRA competitions. Homer is now retired and General Manager of Champion’s Choice and still supporting marksmanship.
