The
Association of Marksmen in the National Guard (AMNG) is a non-profit
association incorporated in the State of Arkansas. Our goal is to provide
support for marksmanship training, education, and competitive activities
at all levels in the National Guard. We invite you to be a part of this
organization.
Background
Over 120 years ago, a group of New York National Guardsmen with similar
dreams and goals formed what is known today as the National Rifle
Association (NRA). Over the years, the NRA has grown into 4,000,000
members and is a force to be reckoned with. However, with the exception of
the National Matches at Camp Perry, OH, the NRA is no longer involved in
military marksmanship. The NRA is generally a civilian organization, run
by civilians, for civilians.
Our Goal
It is AMNG's intent to represent National Guard marksmen with the same
intensity the NRA uses in their fight for second amendment rights. If
you're like many of us in the field, you're seeing a decrease in command
emphasis on basic marksmanship skills. For those of us who believe that marksmanship is a critical skill,
these developments are disturbing. It is one of AMNG's goals to reverse
this trend. Together we can make a difference.
Our Vision
Our vision is an association of members who support marksmanship
training, education, and competition within the National Guard. Working
together, speaking with one voice we will make a difference. We will
change things.
Call to Action
This organization is not one about special interest, it's about
strengthening and improving the resources for the entire marksmanship
program. You now have an organized Association of Military Marksmen in
the National Guard. We invite you to join us!
